Front Porch: Job fair for veterans

WorkSource Snohomish County is hosting the Snohomish County Regional Veterans' Job and Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, 13613 40th Ave., Marysville.
Veterans should dress for success, bring resumes and be prepared for on-site interviews with employers, including Frito Lay, Volt Technical, the Boeing Co., and Giddens Industries.

Sing it forward: Guests of the Village Theatre's "Sing it Forward Soiree" will be entertained by Jessica Skerrit while giving to a good cause.
Proceeds from the "Sing it Forward Soiree" will benefit Village Theatre's Youth Education and Outreach Scholarship
Programs to help pay or defray the costs for young people who want to be part of that program.
Also on tap for the soiree are Kidstage performers as well as Ellen McLain, whom video gamers will know as the voice of the homicidal computer, GLaDOS, of the Portal series.
The soiree kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with appetizers; the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. with a dessert reception to follow at 8:45 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $60 presale and $75 at the door at the new Village Theatre Second Stage, 2730 Wetmore Ave., Everett.

Check car seats: Free car seat safety checks are planned in Langley from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The event is planned at Langley Fire Station 34, 820 Camano Avenue, across the road from the fairgrounds. People are encouraged to register early.
