MONROE — Police tasked with finding an escaped inmate from the Monroe Correctional Complex were regrouping Friday after the trail went cold.
Investigators from the Monroe Police Department, state corrections department, U.S. Marshals Service and King County all were working together to find Brandon Musto, 37, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.
Musto was finishing out a sentence for a vehicular assault conviction out of Thurston County. Sometime Wednesday evening, he cleared a razorwire-topped fence at the minimum-security unit and got into a car.
Police tracked him to the North Bend area on Friday but believe he went back on the move before he could be captured, Willis said.
Another man, 59, of McCleary, was arrested in Grays Harbor County on Thursday morning for allegedly helping with the escape. The man was being held Friday at the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of criminal conspiracy.
Musto is described as white, 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and dark hair, and tattoos on his right arm and left wrist.
Anyone who sees him should call 911.
