50th anniversary celebration: Everett’s Calvary Lutheran Church, with Pastor Calvin Willard, will celebrate 50th anniversary of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC) on Sunday. Worship at 11 a.m., Sunday School at 10 a.m. The AFLC church body came out of the Lutheran Free Church started in 1897, largely by Norwegian Lutherans. In 1962, Lutheran Free Church merged with American Lutheran Church. About 50 congregations did not join, and began the AFLC. Calvary Lutheran Church was founded in 1901 in Everett. Asante Children’s Choir: This 24-member children’s choir from East Africa will perform at Arlington Free Methodist Church at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday, 730 E. Highland Drive, Arlington. Opportunities to donate to choir at both performances.
Chili feed: Catholic Daughters of the Americas St. Rita Court No. 957 will hold its chili feed 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Magdalen Parish Hall, 8717 Seventh Ave. SE, Everett. Holiday grief support: Marysville’s Mountain View Presbyterian Church will hold a GriefShare “Surviving the Holidays” seminar 10 a.m.-noon Nov. 17 to help people grieving the death of a loved one. The public is welcome. Workbooks are $4. GriefShare curriculum includes video interviews with grief experts, counselors, and people who have experienced loss. College concert: Everett’s Trinity Lutheran College Music Department will present “Song of Luke,” a concert celebrating peace, at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 in the S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium at Benaroya Hall, 200 University St., Seattle. Program features Cascade Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gerry Jon Marsh, and Trinity Lutheran College Invitational Chorus, directed by Stephen MarshallWard, the college music department chairman. November Whimsy: Living Interfaith Church will celebrate the end of elections with its 11 a.m. service Sunday in the Alderwood Middle School cafeteria.
