MARYSVILLE -- Criminals posing as police officers robbed a couple in their home Sunday morning, Marysville police reported.

Detectives are investigating the home invasion robbery in the 3800 block of 118th Place NE.

Officers were dispatched to the home shortly before 8:30 a.m.

The couple reported that about 40 minutes earlier two men knocked on their door and identified themselves as police officers, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said. They both were wearing clothing and had equipment that led the couple to believe they were law enforcement officers.

"The suspects only came to the door the one time, identifying themselves as police officers and entering the residence," Lamoureux said Sunday night.

During the robbery the couple was restrained. The man was shot with a stun gun, Lamoureux said.

Neither victim suffered injuries that required medical attention.

The suspects left the home with cash and two handguns.

Police believe the home was specifically targeted.

"We are very concerned criminals are impersonating police officers in order to gain access to their victims and commit crimes," Lamoureux said. "Identifying them and putting them in jail will be a top priority."

Police were attempting to identify both suspects Sunday.

The first suspect is described as a man in his late 20s. He's about 5 foot 10 with a thin to medium build and short dark hair.

The second suspect is a man in his early to mid 30s. He was estimated to be about 5-foot-9 with a stocky build and short reddish or strawberry blond hair. Both were clean shaven.

Marysville police are asking that anyone who has information about the crime to contact Detective C. Shackleton at 360-363-8300.
