Firearms safety class
The Mountlake Terrace Police Department plans a free "Personal Defense and Firearm Safety" seminar from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Mountlake Terrace library, 23308 58th Ave. W.
The seminar, taught by police, will cover best practices for protecting one's self, family and property.
Seating is limited. Reservations are encouraged.

Library board opening: The Edmonds Library Board is seeking a new member. Board meetings are held at 6 p.m. in the Edmonds Library Conference Room the third Monday of every other month.
Terms are for five years with a two-term limit.
Interested applicants may access the application online at www.edmondswa.gov.
They may also pick-up an application at City Hall, 121 5th Ave. N., or at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main Street.
Urban forests forum: People have a chance to learn about Everett's urban forests at an open house scheduled 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Forest Park's Spruce Hall, 802 E Mukilteo Blvd.
Discussion are planned from 6 to 6:45 p.m. about the city's 20-year forest plan, and a volunteer program for forest stewards.
Seattle-based conservation group Forterra, formerly called the Cascade Land Conservancy, is presenting the forum. Forterra and the Everett parks department are assessing the city's forest parkland and drafting a 20-year plan to manage them.
