Where's focus on slow relief efforts?

On Friday another dead body was discovered in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy. A half million people are still without power. Severe water, food, and gasoline shortages are given only casual mention compared to the previous media inundation in the wake of Katrina. What happened to all the homeless in New Jersey and New York? Where did the millions who evacuated go, and what happened to them? Is the media excuse that they were distracted by the presidential election, or is political bias the unmentioned reason for their delayed coverage?

For a country that is hopefully still free, we need a much better free press than the lockstep paramilitary savants we have today.
