50 years ago (1962)

Castle Drugs was having an anniversary sale and invited the public to come in and meet the Castle Crew. The crew consisted of Rich Bettger, Frank Roberts, Ethel Shird, Theresa Warren, May Dams, Irving Lindquist, Bob Peck, Linn Soderblom and Bob Dockstader.

The X-Purts could be heard on the program of the dinner meeting of Snohomish and Island County Chapter of Red Cross. Comprising the singing quartet were Everett High School juniors Terry Pierce, Dick Lynn, Ron Johnson and Steve Collins.



25 years ago (1987)

It was Friday the 13th and a 13 kind of day in the county. Snohomish County was 13th in size area-wise. Its assessed valuation was about $13 billion. There were 13 cities, as opposed to towns. When calling a county agency the phone would ring an average of 13 times before the recording and subsequent Muzak came on.

Faye and Joe Brown of rural Arlington were making willow furniture as a hobby. Every piece the Browns made were special order, except for an occasional doll-size chair they made from scraps. For the willow they went out into their own property or to Eastern Washington.
