It's a winning situation, even if you don't win.

The Veterans Raffle by the Washington Lottery is giving away a $1 million jackpot and helping veterans.

Money raised goes to help returning veterans through the Veterans Innovations Program, run by the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (dva.wa.gov).

The agency assists National Guard, Reserve and veterans who served on active duty, and their families.

The $10 tickets went on sale Monday (Veterans Day). You can buy them through Jan. 1 at lottery retailers.

Only 200,000 tickets will be sold. The winner takes $1 million. There also are 30 $1,000 prizes and 100 prizes of $100.
