Veterans deserve our appreciation
As a Marine Vietnam Combat Veteran, I was incredibly disappointed in the front pages of this weekend's Herald. Saturday Nov. 10 was the 237th birthday of the United States Marine Corps, and Sunday was Veteran's Day. There was not one word on either front page about Veterans. How difficult would it have been to have one line on either front page, something like this, "Veterans Day, thanks to all that served and we will never forget!"
Throughout the paper there were stories about vets, but having even just one line on the front page, saying "Thank You", would have meant a lot to many people.
I work with the families of the fallen every day, and work with returning veterans a lot, all they want to know is this country cares and won't forget. I think The Herald, at least this year, showed veterans and Gold Star families they truly have something to worry about.
I guess I expected more from our newspaper! Your voice is heard all over the area, let those who fought for those rights you enjoy know their sacrifice's won't be forgotten, again.
