MARYSVILLE -- A man riding a bike was struck by a pickup and killed Tuesday night in Marysville.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office said Darryl W. Didier, 64, died from blunt-force injuries and classified the death as accidental.

Didier, whom police said lived in Granite Falls, was riding his bicycle north in the 10900 block of State Avenue around 8 p.m. when the collision occurred, according to Marysville police records.

Attempts to save him were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the police department's Collision Investigation Team, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.

The driver of the truck, 25, was not injured. He is from Marysville.

Witnesses said the man was handcuffed and detained at the scene by police. Nobody was booked into Snohomish County Jail by Wednesday afternoon for investigation of vehicular homicide or vehicular assault.

Police didn't say why the man was detained Tuesday night.

"There have been no arrests made related to last night's fatality collision," Lamoureux said.
