BOTHELL -- Deputies from the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office were investigating an attempted armed robbery in the 2400 block of 171 Street SE in Bothell on Wednesday afternoon.

The homeowner, 45, is believed to have been "pistol whipped" by one of the suspects, sheriff's office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The case has been assigned to Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes detectives for investigation.

"At this time, there is no evidence or information that leads investigators to believe that this crime is related to any other previous robberies or assaults in the past week," Ireton said.

The incident was reported around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies and a police dog searched for three suspects, all men believed to be in their 20s.

At least one of the suspects was believed to be carrying a weapon, Ireton said.
