Bicyclist killed by pickup truck in Marysville

MARYSVILLE — Police say a Granite Falls man riding a bike was struck by a pickup truck and killed Tuesday night in Marysville.

Attempts to save him were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

The accident occurred just after 8 p.m.

The bicyclist, 64, was riding his bicycle northbound in the 10900 block of State Avenue.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the police department’s Collision Investigation Team, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.

The driver of the truck, 25, was not injured. He is from Marysville.

Witnesses said the man was handcuffed and detained at the scene by police. It wasn’t immediately clear if he was arrested in connection with the crash.
