PORT ANGELES — “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” is the final chapter in the teen vampire book and movie saga set in Forks, La Push and Port Angeles.
The Peninsula Daily News reports “Twilight” has drawn more than 200,000 visitors to the Olympic Peninsula over seven years.
Forks Chamber of Commerce Director Marcia Bingham says the boom peaked in 2010 with 70,000 tourists in the town of 3,500. Last year, 45,000 registered at the Forks Visitors Center. Before “Twilight,” visitors to the remote and rainy timber town were counted in the hundreds.
Bingham expects the movie opening this week will bring more visitors to Forks and that the “Twilight” glow will linger into the future.
