Harrison out, Mappin and Sandhu to U-17s

Everett suffered a blow when an MRI revealed overage winger Ryan Harrison has a slight tear in the meniscus of his knee. Harrison suffered the injury when hit by Michal Plutnar in Everett's 3-0 victory at Tri-City last Friday.

Harrison and the team are still exploring their options, so the length Harrison will be out is still to be determined. Everett coach Mark Ferner said it could be as little as a week or as long as eight weeks, depending on which path is chosen. Either way, Harrison won't be playing during this weekend's three-in-three.

On the plus side, Everett should get center Manraj Hayer (upper body) and defenseman Austin Adam (hand) back sometime this weekend. Ferner said they may not be thrust straight back into the lineup Friday at Victoria, but that they would likely play at some point over the weekend.

Winger Joshua Winquist remains sidelined with mononucleosis. Winquist said he's feeling fine, but he has to wait for the swelling in his spleen to subside.

Finally, Tips rookie forwards Ty Mappin and Tyler Sandhu were among the 22 players named today to Team Pacific for the U-17 World Hockey Challenge. Team Pacific is comprised of the top 16-year-olds from B.C. and Alberta and is typically one of the tournament favorites. The tourney takes place Dec. 29-Jan. 4 in Victoriaville and Drummondville, Quebec. Mappin and Sandhu could miss as many as five games with the Tips while taking part in the tournament.

Team West, which includes Saskatchewan and Manitoba, has yet to be announced. Tips winger Dawson Leedahl is a candidate to make that team.
