Students at Everett High School held a surprise party of sorts for police officer Mike Lewis in the Civic Auditorium. To his surprise his appointment as a sergeant was announced to the student body. Robert Crumbaugh, EHS vice principal, read a congratulatory message from Everett school officials for Lewis' efforts in behalf of the School Safety Patrol and pupil safety in general.
Maier Electric was having a grand opening tomorrow at their new location, 2607 Wetmore Ave. Free prizes included a hand mixer, portable greenhouse and outdoor post light. Fred Maier's business had moved from 2008 Hewitt Ave.

Rear Admiral John R. McNamara, showing the Navy's spiritual side, was helping Navy newcomers adjust to Everett. McNamara, a Roman Catholic monsignor and the Navy's chief of chaplains, said that he was here to minister to the people in stressful situations.
All friends were invited to Danny Koshelnik's 25th Birthday Dance in his honor. It was this Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2913 W. Marine View Drive.
