Front Porch: Christmas House needs elves

Elves needed for Christmas House
Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop is looking for anyone who would like to help fix up donated bicycles to give away at Christmas House this year.
All levels of mechanical abilities are welcome from the professional mechanic to spit-and-polishers. Volunteers are needed 11 a.m. to 3 p.m Sunday, Nov. 18. Help is also needed 1-7 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through November.
Sharing Wheels is at 2525 Broadway, in Everett. For more information call 425-252-6952 or go to www.sharingwheels.org.
Christmas House will open Dec. 1 and closes Dec. 18. For more information about Christmas House or to volunteer go to www.christmas-house.org.

Winter comes early: Edmonds Historical Museum's new exhibit, "Winters of Yesteryear," opened this week and runs through Jan. 27.
"Winters of Yesteryear" features vintage skis, sleds, ice skates and historic photographs from the museum's collection. From the Big Snow of 1916 to today, explore how locals have experienced the winter season -- how they've talked about it, prepared for it, dressed for it, played and competed in it and now remember it.
Edmonds Historical Museum, 118 Fifth Ave. N., is open 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. It will be open 5 to 8 p.m. during Third Thursday Art Walks in November and December.
The suggested donation is $5 per adult and $2 per child. For more information, go to historicedmonds.org.
