Prep boys soccer: Northwest Christian 5, Mount Vernon Christian 1

SUMNER -- Northwest Christian's Austin Friedly recorded a hat trick to lead the Crusaders past Mount Vernon Christian in a boys soccer 1B/2B state tournament semifinal match. Jayson Withers headed in the lone goal for the Hurricanes off a corner kick from Seth Parman. Mount Vernon Christian plays Providence Classical Christian in a third-fourth place match at noon today.

At Sunset Chev Stadium

Goals--Payton Gray (NWC), Austin Friedly (NWC) 3, Jacob Weaver, Jayson Withers (MVC). Assists--Weaver, Seth Parman (MVC), Tom Lee (NWC). Goalkeepers--Northwest Christian: Daniel Hughes. Mount Vernon Christian: Jesse Ketcham. Records--Northwest Christian 15-5 overall. Mount Vernon Christian 17-4.
