EVERETT — Fire crews Saturday night put out a fire in a house near the intersection of Rucker Avenue and 37th Street.
Three engines, one ladder truck and two medic units arrived at the scene at about 6:32 p.m. and located a fire in the basement of the home.
“We don’t know the amount of damage or what caused it yet,” Everett Fire Marshal Rick Robinson said.
No one was inside the house at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to firefighters, Robinson added. The homeowner returned while crews were finishing their work.
Mike Wear said he called 911 when he saw smoke near his neighbor’s house in the 3600 block of Rucker Avenue.
“Smoke was coming across the whole roofline,” he said. “I’ve lived next door for 14 years and (the owner) is a real nice guy. It’s just sad.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No further information was available Saturday night.
