Two new books tell the stories of kids in military families

If you're interested in reading more about kids in military families and learning how they feel, check out "My Hero," edited by Allen Appel and Mike Rothmiller.
For the book, more than 100 kids between ages 6 and 15 wrote essays and drew pictures describing how proud they are of their military parents.
For example, Jessenia Villalobas, 11, wrote this about her dad, Army Sergeant Frank L. Burkhard: "He puts his life on the line like Superman. He saves people from hunger and from getting killed by bombs. . . . I think that every mom and dad is a hero because they protect their families."
Another book is called "Don't Forget, God Bless Our Troops," by Jill Biden, who teaches college and is married to Vice President Joe Biden. The book is about Jill Biden's granddaughter Natalie, whose dad served in Iraq for a year three years ago.
In the book, Natalie is sad that her dad is gone, but she's also very brave as she comforts her little brother, sends care packages to her dad and just tries to be a normal 5-year-old girl.
