50 years ago (1962)

Fred W. Wintch, John L. Smevaag and Leo O. Gundiff of Everett attended an advance underwriting seminar in Tacoma devoted to a study of business insurance and insurance for estate conservation, said Gerald Hyde, manager of the Everett general office of New York Life Insurance Co.

Advertisers in the Where To Go For Festive Dining, Dancing, Entertainment section were Pardee's, Shakeys, Alpine, Totem Tavern and The Turf in Everett, Bluebird Cafe and Cedarcrest Restaurant in Marysville, The Sea Horse in Mukilteo, and the B&M Restaurants.

25 years ago (1987)

Ella Walker, former manager of the Evergreen State Fair who would retire at the end of the year, was honored at an "Ella Roast" titled "My Fair Lady" Saturday night at the fairgrounds. It was a surprise event, but she came prepared with some roasts of her own to cap the fun-filled reception.

Eight youngsters named as winners in an Everett Mall Power Wheels contest were Belina Guiterrez, Ian McFarlane, Melissa McKee, Jeff Purvis, Leigh Rost, Bobby Peck, Travis Crammer and Robert Smith. They would get to escort Santa in the mall's Christmas parade.
