Great partner in establishing fund

I am writing this letter after reading the Sunday Viewpoints commentary "Nonprofits grow and flourish" by Maddy Metzger-Utt of the Greater Everett Community Foundation. As the executive director of a non-profit agency (the East County Senior Center in Monroe), I share with many of my colleagues the concern that although the need for our services is growing, funding to keep them supported is getting harder and harder to obtain. We are all exploring various strategies to insure our viability.
Our board decided several years ago to establish an endowment fund, which we named the Legacy Society. We knew that in order for this to succeed, we needed someone who would be there to help us establish the fund and guide us along the way. We could not have found a better partner than Maddy and the GECF. They have been with us every step of the way. Commitments to our Legacy Society have grown quickly due in no small part to our partnership. I encourage any non-profit in the area to explore this alternative.
