LYNNWOOD -- Behind the play of senior guard Devin Joseph and a fast start, Edmonds-Woodway outlasted Meadowdale 65-44 in a nonleague game on Saturday night.
The Warriors began their quick start with a 15-5 first quarter lead and led 33-16 at the half.
"They really came out aggressive," said Meadowdale head coach Andy Streit. "Our guys are still trying to play at varsity speed. (Edmonds-Woodway) were ready to work very hard and we weren't ready to match their intensity."
Joseph scored 11 points and Travis Bakken added 14 to pace the Warriors.
"For how big they are they can really push the ball," added Streit. "After every miss they push ... and Joseph is really quick and hard to pick up."
Meadowdale's junior post Jacob Perkins -- who had first-half foul trouble -- scored all 13 of his points in the second half to lead the Mavericks in the loss.
