Boeing buys more real estate in South Carolina
The Boeing Co. is buying up more buildings around its North Charleston, S.C., site.
The jet maker will snag three office buildings encompassing about 178,000 square feet in a deal expected to close this month, reports The Post and Courier.
Boeing doesn’t have any immediate plans for the buildings but is protecting “future growth plans” at the site, a company spokeswoman told the publication.
Just last month, Pat Shanahan, Boeing’s senior vice president of airplane programs, noted the company’s North Charleston site has “untapped capacity”when asked whether space is a limiting factor in producing more than 10 787s monthly.

After buying out its suppliers, Boeing also has an aft fuselage fabrication facility and a 787 fuselage assembly building at the South Carolina site.
