Chinese man pleads not guilty in Des Moines fatal crash

KENT -- A community college student from China has pleaded not guilty to a vehicular homicide charge for a fatal crash last month in Des Moines.
After Thursday's arraignment in King County Superior Court in Kent, the 19-year-old, Yichun Xu, remained jailed with bail set at $2 million.
Prosecutors say he sped through a stop sign Nov. 15 and collided with a car driven by 25-year-old Brenda Gomez, who died several days later at a Seattle hospital.
The Seattle Times reported that he's also charged with vehicular assault and reckless endangerment because of injuries to three young family member Gomez was driving to a birthday party.
