Elf on the shelf adoptions in Lynnwood Saturday

Sign up for Weekend to-do list
Which way did he go? Where's that little elf now?

We're talking about that elusive Elf on the Shelf, who moves in with your family and once "adopted," watches and listens, and reports back to Santa each night to update the naughty and nice lists.

Then your scout elf returns before daybreak to take up his or her post once again.

Chanda Bell, another Santa's helper, will be at the Alderwood Barnes and Noble bookstore at 11 a.m. Saturday to arrange more elf adoptions and sign copies of the Elf on the Shelf books.

Bell and her cohorts, mother Carol Aebersold and twin Christa Pitts, say once the elf is adopted and registered, the magic begins.

You can never be sure where you'll find your elf each morning: Some like to perch on the mantel or hang from a chandelier. Others even hide in the freezer because it's most like their North Pole home.

To find out more about their elfish tricks, see www.elfontheshelf.com.

The Alderwood Barnes and Noble is at 19401 Alderwood Mall Parkway, Lynnwood. Call 425-771-2220 for more information on Bell's appearance.

"The Elf on the Shelf: An Elf's Story," an animated feature based on the books, will be broadcast at 9:30 p.m. Friday on CBS.
