Prep wrestling: Battle at the Border

BLAINE--Jessie Lopez of Everett High School finished in first place in the 138 pound division to lead the Seagulls to an eighth place finish at the two day Battle at the Border tournament held at Blaine High School.
Lopez defeated Dalton Meyers of Kentwood 3-1 in the finals to extend his winning streak to 13 matches. Lopez would also unanimously be awarded the "outstanding wrestler" of the tournament, the first Seagull to do so since Alec Bird won it in 2010.
Sophomore Ric Stewart took second at 182 pounds, with Pablo Yeo (160 lbs) and Anthony Hawkins (170 lbs) each placing third.
