Editors tackle daily challenge

I must agree with the Nov. 28 letter writer regarding typos and other such errors that seemed to have been on the increase in The Herald this past year. I'm certain most readers understand that much of putting out a paper like the Herald with hard deadlines and inflexible schedules is a daily challenge, to say the least. Proofreading and editing is likely done at high speed and some things are overlooked. Many of these errors however can be a bit glaring and sometimes humorous. Yes, it has become somewhat of a game to find the typos and grammatical shortcomings each morning. Sort of like Word Jumble, only built into the body of a news item. Regardless, the Herald is better than this and I'm sure the bosses in the corner office pull their hair out each day over this kind of a problem.
