Allen was named a first-team All-American along with 23 other girls from across the country.
Requirements for nomination were that the student-athlete be in her senior year of high school, that she be nominated by her high school coach, that her coach be a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and that her individual season statistics versus all opponents for the entire season be entered into MaxPreps, a free service that aggregates and distributes data on high school sports.
Allen and her coach at Jackson, sister Ashley Allen met all those requirements and Emmy was named to the team.
Between the first-team, second-team and honorable mentions, 100 girls from around the country were honored.
The 24 girls who made the first-team have been invited to take place in the All-American match and skills competition that takes place on Friday at the KFC Yum! Center that is held in conjunction with the 2012 AVCA annual convention.
In addition to Allen on the first-team, her teammate, setter Haley MacDonald was named All-American honorable mention. Allen and MacDonald are the only players from the state of Washington to be honored.
