50 years ago (1962)

Opening with a turkey dinner, a joint meeting and Christmas party were planned by ALEM Barracks 1477 and Everett Barracks 132, Veterans of World War I of the USA and their auxiliaries at Normanna Hall. Charles Francy, commander of Everett Barracks, said the meeting was open to all World War I vets, their wives and their widows.

Al Bolser Tire Co., 5530 Evergreen Way, was awarded a city contract to furnish the city with tires and tire repair service on city vehicles for the coming year. The city commissioners awarded the bid on the basis of a recommendation of department heads after several days of study.

25 years ago (1987)

Lee Finnick was elected president of the Edmonds School Board. Also the unanimous choice of board members, Vi Walls was chosen vice president and Judy Janes as representative on state legislative issues. Finnick succeeded Sheri Straight who served as president the past four years.

Scan Fish Inc. was open for business at 3912 134th St. NE in Marysville. The smoke house used both hot and cold smoke methods for salmon, trout and other species. The Swedish-owned company was formerly known as Sea Smoke NW.
