Washington State Parks is offering a 2013 centennial calendar for purchase, a beautiful stocking stuffer.
The state park system turns 100 in March and the calendar celebrates that anniversary with historic photos from the State Parks Archive Collection and other images highlighting each decade.
A 1919 photo shows a public meeting and picnic to discuss the formation of a state park at Deception Pass. Others include Moran State Park in the 1920s, a 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps crew and a State Parks ranger and truck from the 1950s
The large-format calendar is 14-by-19.75 inches when opened and sells for $18.50 plus tax. Proceeds from the calendar sales go to maintain Washington parks.
You can buy the calendar online at myprint.wa.gov, or call State Parks Headquarters at 360-902-8500, but you have to order by Monday to get it by Christmas.
For more about the calendar go to www.parks.wa.gov/ specialoffers.
