CONCRETE — It took seven games, but the Granite Falls girls basketball team finally got a win, largely thanks to forward Emily Schneiders.
The junior scored 16 points, including three 3-pointers, grabbed 10 rebounds and had three steals as the Tigers beat Concrete 41-34 for their first win of the season.
Senior forward Chryssy Dolan had 11 points and sophomore Makenzie McLaughlin chipped in with seven points and 10 rebounds.
It was the second nonleague game between the two teams this season. The Lions won the first matchup 48-24 on Dec. 3.
Early on, the Tigers appeared to have solved Concrete, racing out to a 15-5 lead after the first quarter. But the Tigers, who hadn’t yet cracked the 40-point mark before Saturday’s game, went on to score just eight points over the next two quarters to trail by four entering the fourth.
Granite Falls responded with its best offensive output in a quarter this season, scoring 18 points, while holding Concrete to just seven in the final quarter.
Kylee Warner led the Lions with 17 points.
