Mr. and Mrs. Max Saad announced the engagement of their daughter, Rose Marie, to Thomas Mackie Stiger, son of Judge and Mrs. Thomas R. Stiger. Both were graduates of Everett High School. She was a University of Washington graduate while he had graduated from Western Washington State College.
Gloria Hansen was chairing the Everett High School Band's annual Christmas party at Legion Park Hall. Others on the committee were Nancy Cunningham, Jerry Burke, Nancy Halvorsen and Ruthy Westover. All band members and alums were invited.
25 years ago (1987)
Rusty Elliot, in her red stocking cap with little stuffed animals, wasn't just selling Christmas trees, she was selling Christmas. She owned Alan Acres Tree Farms near Stanwood and in addition to live trees, she offered hot chocolate, a warm fire under a shelter, handmade Christmas ornaments, swags and wreaths.
Joseph Karch of Alderwood Manor had a beautiful Christmas tree in his back yard that he wanted to give away. The blue spruce's lower branches had been dying off, but the top 10 feet were healthy. The top was free to anyone who would cut down the tree.
