Student nominated for acting awards
Cameron Lee, a Monroe High School freshman, has been nominated for Best Leading Actor in a Musical and Person to Watch in the 2012 Seattle Broadway World awards for the ArtsWest production of “Godspell.”
Last year, he was nominated for the 2011 Seattle Broadway World awards as Best Featured Actor in a Play for his first role as a professional, playing Jesse in “Distracted.” He also was suggested for a 2011 Gregory Award for the same role.
Cameron fell in love with acting in the fifth grade when he saw the Monroe High School production of “The Sound of Music.” He since has been in two Monroe High musicals, as Emilio’s son in “South Pacific” and as a chorus member in “Side Show.” He starred as Harold Hill in Hidden River Middle School’s performance of “The Music Man” last spring.
Cameron broke into professional acting with his role in “Distracted,” and added to his resume this year by making commercials for Microsoft and a piano-learning program. He is currently in a professional role playing Peter Cratchit in ACT Theater’s production of “A Christmas Carol.”
He plans to audition for the 2013 ArtsWest musical in January, and for the Monroe High School spring musical.
Seattle Broadway World awards will be announced at the end of December and are based on votes received through the Seattle World website.
