50 years ago (1962)
Orvie Lang, long-time Everett educator, was named to take over the reins of Snohomish County Boys Club, succeeding Earl Moneymaker in January. Serving with Lang were Jim Erickson, first vice president, Dr. Dan Lagozzino, secretary and vice president, and Clyde Piticher, treasurer.
One of the musical groups performing at Cascade High School’s “Winter Showcase” was a swing ensemble. Among its members were Diane Targerson, Chris Berg, Ann Dwyer, Felix Solis, Dave Wieldraayer and Mike O’Neill.
25 years ago (1987)
The Everett division of Boeing would absorb some of the 600 workers being transferred from the postponed 737 program. It wasn’t known how many of the employees would end up in Everett, but since October, 300 people had been switched from Renton to Everett.
Nearly 700 adults and children were treated by four Everett Lions clubs to a turkey dinner and door prizes, which included stereos and color televisions. Aaron Jones, president of the North Everett Lions, said they learned that there were a lot of people who needed a warm meal. Jones was also rehabilitation director at the Volunteers of America.
