GRANITE FALLS — A man was flown to a Seattle hospital Tuesday afternoon after being injured in a house fire near Granite Falls.
The man called 911 to report the fire about 11:30 a.m. along 130th Street NE, about three miles north of town off Jordan Road.
Crews found the man in the second story of the house, Granite Falls Fire Chief Jim Haverfield said.
The man needed medical treatment for possible smoke inhalation and burns, the chief said. He was breathing, but the extent of his injuries wasn’t immediately clear.
Crews rushed the man to a medical helicopter waiting at the Arlington Municipal Airport, Haverfield said. The weather conditions were too poor for the chopper to land in Granite Falls.
No other injuries were reported. Crews believe the man may have been trying to extinguish the fire when he was hurt.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
Crews also responded from Getchell, Lake Stevens and rural Arlington.
