World's children are all precious

The appalling tragedy at Newtown brings into sharp focus just how precious life is; especially the life of a child. Why can we not transfer our collective horror to the thousands of children all over the world who are dying slowly (and not so slowly) from disease and warfare? I wonder if George Bush ever shed a tear for the thousands of children slaughtered in his Iraq fiasco?
It's blatantly inhumane to spend so much of our resources on destruction when there is so much human repair work to be done.
