Impressions from Tuesday's victory by the Kamiak boys over Edmonds-Woodway

Tuesday night's 86-72 Kamiak victory over Edmonds-Woodway provided a lot insight as to rather or not the Knights are a pretender or a contender this season. After what I saw, I'm going to say without question the Knights are a contender.

The high expectations that the Knights had a year ago are finally being met -- and they are doing it under the radar. Kamiak was picked as one of the favorites last season, but faltered out of the gates and never quite recovered. This season, the high expectations at the 4A level were heaped upon the Jackson Timberwolves and the Knights were somewhat forgotten. The Knights started the season 0-2 out of conference, but have reeled off four straight since the league schedule began, setting up a showdown with the undefeated Timberwolves on Thursday for first place in the Wesco South.

I'm not going to say that I'm picking the Knights, but I am going to say that this is going to be a great game and the Knights are very capable of winning. Kamiak likes to control the pace of the game. They are a run-and-gun team that is led by Imaan Vicente, who has been a force to be reckoned with early on this season. He had 30 points and 15 rebounds in Tuesday's victory over the Warriors and he can score from anywhere. He is a big man, who looks like he has bulked up some in the offseason. His post game has improved greatly and he can also step out on the floor and shoot the three and he has a deadly fadeaway jump-shot.

But it isn't just Vicente. The Knights have point guard Josh Wishnubroto, who seems to be the engine of the team. Henderson Belk is a beast on the boards and can score effectively and Tyler NIelsen proved with his 15 points and perfect shooting night that he can provide instant offense.

Personally I think that the Knights are very capable of keeping up their winning ways, but at the very least with their up-and-down style they are a very fun team to watch. I don't know how fun they are to play. That might be a question for the Timberwolves after Thursday night's game.
