A 41-year-old Everett man received life-threatening injuries in a snowmobile crash more than eight miles north of Liberty in eastern Washington on Friday night, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.

Richard Mansfield was driving a friend's snowmobile north on Forest Service Road 9712 when he lost control, left the road and struck a tree.

Sheriff's deputies and personnel from Kittitas County Search and Rescue, Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue and Fire District 7 responded, and used a rescue sled to move Mansfield to an ambulance. He then was taken to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital with serious injuries.

Mansfield was stabilized at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital and has since been transferred to another facility, hospital officials said Monday.
