The Scots trailed early, but a 20-point outburst in the second quarter led toa 26-22 halftime lead. But after a low-scoring third quarter, Issaquah stormed back with a 20-point quarter of its own in the final quarter to take the win.
"We dug ourselves a hole in the first quarter," said Scots assistant coach Mark Haner. "(Issaquah) played man-to-man most of the game, but they became more aggressive in the fourth quarter and we turned the ball over too many times."
Shorecrest made a go-ahead basket when junior guard Benny Ortega beat the Eagles' full court press and made a lay-in to put the Scots up 45-44 with less than a minute remaining, setting up Sexton's game-winning basket.
Conin Oishi led all Shorecrest scorers with 14 points.
