Seahawks re-sign WR Deon Butler, release CB Ron Parker

After his second stint with the Seahawks ended quickly, Deon Butler is back for a third go-around having been re-signed by the team Friday. Butler, who was drafted by Seattle in 2009, played three seasons with the Seahawks before being released in the final round of roster cuts this fall. He was brought back prior to Seattle's game against Buffalo to give the Seahawks depth at the position with Sidney Rice battling foot and knee injuries, but Butler was released again this week to make room on the roster for safety Winston Guy, who was returning from a four-game suspension.

Ron Parker, who was signed off of Carolina's practice squad earlier this month, was likely deemed expendable with Seattle getting players back at cornerback. On Thursday the Seahawks learned that Richard Sherman won his appeal and won't be suspended, injured corners Walter Thurmond and Marcus Trufant appear to be healthy, and suspended cornerback Brandon Browner will be back next week.
