Stolen truck not involved fatal hit-and-run, police say

MONROE -- Police have determined that a stolen pickup recovered Thursday was not the same vehicle that struck and killed a bicyclist in Monroe on Wednesday night.
The hit-and-run crash occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at U.S. 2 and Old Owen Road.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner on Friday identified the victim as Debbrah M. Pesce, 53.
Police discovered a light-colored pickup at a Gold Bar park-and-ride lot Thursday afternoon, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said. The pickup initially appeared to match a vehicle identified by witnesses of the fatal crash.
"We have determined that the truck recovered in Gold Bar was not involved in the collision," Willis said Friday.
Through video surveillance, police have identified the vehicle. It is believed to be a late 1980s to early 1990s Ford F-series pickup. It's thought to be white with dark blue or green stripes.
The Monroe Police Department is seeking any additional witnesses to the collision or any event leading up to the collision. They are asked to call 360-794-6300 or an anonymous tip line at 360-863-4600.
