Two-session class will teach you how to snowshoe

Want to walk on snow?

The Mountaineers can show you how.

The outdoors education organization is offering a basic snowshoeing course.

The two-session classroom course covers equipment, conditioning, where to go, routes to avoid avalanche risk and winter travel.

Participants get to try out their skills during a field trip to Stevens Pass.

When: Classroom training is from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 16 and 17, Snohomish County PUD, 2320 California St., Everett.

The field trip to Stevens Pass is Jan. 26.

Cost: $55 for Mountaineers members; $75 for nonmembers.
