Husky football team adds pair of freshman
Walker and Williams earned their high school diplomas in December. The remainder of the Huskies' 2013 recruiting class will sign NCAA letters of intent Feb. 6.
Walker, from Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas, was a two-time all-district selection and has been rated among the top 50 safeties in the country by a variety of recruiting services.
"I really like the versatility that Trevor brings," Sarkisian said in a press release. "He's a big hitter from the safety position, and he also has the ability to cover. Plus, it's big to be able to bring him in mid-year as it's a position of need."
Williams is the two-time Los Angeles City Section Player of the Year, having led Narbonne High School to a 14-1 record and a second straight L.A. City championship last fall. The three-year starter passed for 98 touchdowns and nearly 9,000 yards during his high school career.
"Troy's accolades speak for themselves," Sarkisian said. "I love his competitive spirit and I've had the chance to work with him in camps. We've been recruiting him for a long time. His ability to run and throw is a great fit for our program."
Sarkisian also announced Monday that two scholarship players from last year's team have chosen to transfer: safety James Sample and linebacker Blake Rodgers.
