Suspensions exceed the crime
The average 28-day suspension (if you ratted, otherwise 42 days), which is the end of the season unless they make the playoffs. I'm sure the remaining players will do their best.
I do believe discipline is in order, however, the rest of the season is a complete over reaction by the holier-than-thou. I couldn't believe the article about the girls vs. Shorewood, included suspension for alcohol and drugs, who is responsible for that? "How positive."
The reason I object to the length of the suspension is I don't believe the time and energy that these kids have put into their collective sport has been taken into consideration. Most, if not all have been playing select for many years, the years long process of traveling all across the state and more. These kids have spent years getting up early and coming home late, burning up entire summers for the love of the game, and the chance "maybe" for a scholarship.
I hate to think that these kids will forever try to imagine how their high school careers would have gone had they not been judged by one night, instead of all the years of hard work by them, their parents and the almighty dollar.
Today I question my "I am an Everett man born, an Everett man till I die," because today the E in EHS stands for "Embarrassing" and its not because of the kids.
