Weekend to-do list: Silvertips, ‘Fiddler,’ photo exhibit

Football! Many of us will be scheduling our weekends around the Seahawks’ playoff game, which is at 10 a.m. Sunday on Fox, Channel 13. But did you know there are close to 45 non-Seahawks hours this weekend? Here are some ways to spend them:

Check out an eBook: Did you get a new eReader, tablet or smartphone for Christmas? The Everett Public Library is offering two classes Saturday to show you how to download free eBooks using the library’s OverDrive service. The session at the main Everett library, 2702 Hoyt Ave., goes from 10 a.m. to noon. The afternoon class, from 2 to 4 p.m., will be held at the Evergreen Branch, 9512 Evergreen Way. Click here for more information.

See a princess: The Seattle Opera’s “Cinderella (La Cenerentola)” opens Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. show and is staged at various times through Jan. 12. Rossini’s version of this classic story changes things up a bit with the evil stepmother becoming an evil stepfather and a philosopher as the fairy godmother. Tickets start at $25. Call 800-426-1619 or find more information here.

Watch some hockey: Opera’s not your thing? Try some hard-hitting action. The Everett Silvertips face off against the Portland Winterhawks Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Comcast Arena. Cheer on the Tips — maybe a little positive encouragement will help them turn things around.

Have a laugh: “The Dinner Party,” Neil Simon’s one-act comedy about marriage and divorce, plays Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Historic Everett Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults. Find tickets and more showtimes here.

See a classic Village Theatre’s production of “Fiddler on the Roof” continues with shows this weekend. Find tickets and showtimes here or read our review here.

Look through the lens: This is the opening weekend of a photo exhibition titled “Through My Lens: Life on Film” at the Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett. The show, which runs through Feb. 3, features photos by students involved in the drug court program at the Denney Juvenile Justice Center. The photo class is taught by Herald photojournalists Annie and Mark Mulligan. For more, go to the Schack website. To see some of the photos from the exhibit, click here.

Tackle clutter: Professional organizer Monika Kristofferson will present a free program Sunday on how to get rid of clutter in your home and reduce stress. The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Snohomish Library, 311 Maple Ave., Snohomish. Space is limited and online registration is requested. There was space available as of Thursday evening. Click here to sign up or call 360-568-2898 for more information.

Follow the sound: Steven Graham says it’s a quiet weekend on the Snohomish County music scene, but there’s plenty happening if you’re willing to drive north or south. Click here for his three shows to see this weekend.
