Davis scores 37, but UW women lose

LOS ANGELES -- Jazmine Davis did all she could but in the end, it wasn't enough.
The University of Washington point guard scored a career-high 37 points Friday night in the Huskies' 81-72 loss to USC in Pac-12 Conference women's basketball action.
The loss snapped the Huskies' three-game win streak and dropped Washington to 10-4 overall, 2-1 in conference play. USC improved to 6-8 and 3-0.
Davis, a sophomore, made 12 of 28 shots from the floor, including 6-of-15 from 3-point range. Her point total was the fifth-highest in program history, the UW said on its Twitter feed.
But Davis didn't get a lot of help. Talia Walton had 15 points and eight rebounds, but no other Husky reached double figures in scoring. Senior guard Kristi Kingma, a graduate of Jackson High School, scored eight points. She was 3-for-9 from the floor.
USC was led by junior forward Cassie Harberts, who scored 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Ariya Crook added 23 points for the Trojans, including six 3-point field goals on 10 attempts.
The Huskies play at 14th-ranked UCLA on Sunday.
