BELLINGHAM -- Led by Kenau Hamilton's 18 points, Tulalip Heritage avenged their early season loss to Lummi by defeating the Blackhawks 59-52 in a Northwest 1B game played on Friday night.

For the Hawks the win was crucial to the team's chances of hosting a district playoff game next month.

"Last time we played (Lummi) they beat us by two," said Tulalip Heritage head coach Marlin Fryberg. "We knew that we had to work on a our pressure defense. We had to stop (Earl) Johnson, he had 16 points against us the first time and tonight we held him to just four points ... Our pressure defense really worked for us tonight."

Fryberg also noted how key Hamilton's play was against the previously unbeaten (in league) Lummi team.

"Keanau played real focused tonight," said Fryberg. "He's only 5-9 ... maybe 5-10. They've got a lot of bigger guys that are 6-3, 6-4. But he stuck with them and stay focused."
