Good-looking guys get all the breaks. That appears to be Starbucks’ argument after it lost to actor Patrick Dempsey in the Tully’s bankruptcy auction (Page F6). Auctioneers supposedly gazed into McDreamy’s eyes and concluded that his $9.1 million was worth more than the mermaid and her $10.5 million. And it apparently worked on a bankruptcy judge, who Friday approved the sale to Dempsey’s group.
The “Grey’s Anatomy” star wants to keep the chain running, give coffee drinkers an alternative to Starbucks and save 480 jobs. It’s hard not to cheer for him if he’s using his charm for something good. Let’s not think about the harm he could do if he used it for evil.

Get your kicks on Route 66: General Motors is poised to unveil a redesign of the Corvette, the venerable sports car that was introduced during Eisenhower's first term.

GM hopes the redesign will make the 'Vette more appealing to younger, hipper potential buyers -- although at this point it would probably settle for anyone who doesn't wear matching white belts and white shoes.

What a meanie: The reviews are in for Seth MacFarlane's gig as host of the Oscar nominations show Thursday, and they aren't pretty. It seems the "Family Guy" creator hurt the creative community's fee-fees with his barbed jokes and outright insults.

At this point, MacFarlane is still slated to host the Oscars on Feb. 24. But Billy Crystal might want to keep his cellphone handy.
