Pack a bow and aim at lifesize 3-D foam targets

Sign up for Weekend to-do list
Here's your chance to shoot an alligator in the wilderness of Washington.

It's among the lifesize animal targets on the archery course at the Jan. 20 Fun Shoot at Granite Falls Sportsmen's Club.

Other foam 3-D targets include a deer, turkey, sheep, bear, pig, wolverine, coyote and porcupine.

"It's a fun shoot," event spokesman Sam Walker said. "You can keep score if you like, but it's not required."

The course is along a hiking trail through the woods. Blue stakes mark where to stand and shoot.

As novel as an alligator is around these parts, it's not the main attraction.

"Guys like to shoot the bear target," Walker said.

The event is to tide shooters over for a few months. The club's archery course won't be open on a regular basis until April.

Just remember: BYOB (Bring Your Own Bow ... and arrows).

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 20 at Granite Falls Sportsmen's Club, 20319 Gun Club Road, Granite Falls.

The cost is $10 per person for each round; $5 for kids 10 and younger. Each entry includes a raffle ticket for door prizes.
