Her 'legacy' is a very poor one
She was elected governor in one of the most corrupt elections this state has ever had. She refused to pursue an agreement with the tribal gambling concerns that would give the state a piece of the billions of dollars they are raking in from tribal gambling. (In turn, the tribal gambling concerns funneled thousands and thousands of dollars into Gregoire's re-election.) She has done nothing in dealing with the corruption, cost overruns and incredible waste on boondoggle projects by the Washington State Department of Transportation (i.e., the 520 bridge project, Sound Transit, Rapid Transit). She has done little to deal with the corruption and union abuse in the state ferry system which continues to lose millions of dollars.
Christine Gregoire has admitted that she has gone against her own personal and religious beliefs to support gay marriage for political expediency. Oh, and let's not forget that she won re-election on her promise "I would never raise taxes in a bad economy" and then with the Legislature's help pushed through the largest tax increase in the history of our state. And last but not least, through her reckless spending, she is leaving this state billions of dollars in the hole.
I could go on, but this is the real "legacy" of Gov. Gregoire. The only reason she didn't run for a third term (1) she would have never been re-elected and (2) she is waiting for a posh job with the Obama administration (at least she will be in the other Washington).
